Have You Seen the Magical Christmas in Vienna?
MULLED WINE, CHRISTMAS MARKETS AND IMPERIAL PALACES
Although my photos are from several years ago, Christmas in Vienna is every year the same – magical, rich in colors and full of aromas and tastes. A big part of this magic feel is coming from the numerous Christmas markets but the gorgeous palaces and the overall aristocratic atmosphere of the city are quite remarkable.
CHRISTMAS IN VIENNA – MARKETS
Undoubtedly, the best Christmas market in the Austrian capital is the one at front of the City Hall.
Despite that all Christmas markets have their own identity and specialty, the City Hall Christmas market is the largest in terms of surface and offers an abundance of Christmas products. In addition of all these temptations, as the market takes place in the heart of the city you can walk around and enjoy the Christmas beauty of Vienna by visiting the Votive Church for example. It opens from 15th November and closes on 24th of December.
CHRISTMAS VIENNA by NIGHT
Vienna during Christmas period is magical not only during the day but even during the night. Walking around is safe and the plentiful decoration Christmas lights and stars make it look almost unreal.
CHRISTMAS IN VIENNA – JOSEFPSLATZ
One of my favorite places was Josefplatz, the true heart of the city, located at the Hofburg Palace, the former imperial palace of Vienna. Here you can also taste a mulled wine while walking on the smaller streets around. The square has a very good location as it is not far from the Maria-Theresian-Platz where you will find the beautiful building of the Natural History Museum, the Parliament, Leopold Museum and more.
Christmas in Vienna is all about mulled wine, Christmas decoration, traditional food, Christmas carols and music events, ice skating, gingerbread and Christmas markets.
If you haven’t been for Christmas in Vienna, make yourself a favor – take the trip this year and see the magic with your own eyes!
