Female Travel Packing Tricks and Tips
Anticipation is the best part of every trip. The worst part is when we have to pack. Often we take too many clothes, overpack shoes and toiletries. We also don’t plan space for shopping items at the destination. Thanks to my years of travel, I found what is the best way to pack. These female travel packing tricks and tips are the result of experience.
Every woman should master her packing skills. Not just to save money and pay less for checked-in luggage. Not because the suitcases hurt out backbones. But also to keep our cool and stylish looks that make us feel pretty even during long hours of travel.
15 Female Travel Packing Tricks and Tips
1# ROLL, DON’T FOLD
The ultimate travel trick to save space in your luggage is to roll not fold your clothes. It is easy to do it and helps keep your clothes wrinkle-free and better organized.
#2: INVEST IN QUALITY LUGGAGE
My travel life changed the moment I invested in a new set of suitcases. The reason I spent a lot of money on my spinners was to stop the back pain and prevent my spine from injuries. It may seem a waste of money but investing in quality luggage is one of the cleverest decisions you may take if you plan to travel extensively.
#3: USE EASY TO DRY CLOTHES
Packing easy to dry clothes may not seem one of the most important packing tricks but believe me, it can save your entire vacation.
I remember the week spent with a friend at Hilton Dalaman, a beautiful place where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Aegean Sea in Turkey. The climate was so humid that, despite the hot summer days, my clothes couldn’t dry at all. My beach wear didn’t dry during the whole vacation! I was not expecting such humidity and was not prepared for this climate conditions.
#4 USE PACKING LIST
The packing list is something that every frequent traveller has mastered. I divided mine into groups that cover all items I need every day: clothing and accessories, documents and gadgets, medication and personal care, etc. You can download the list from here: The Packing List That Will Save You Bunch of Time
#5 USE PLASTIC CONTAINERS AND JARS
It is very important to downsize everything you take on the road. If you want to keep your usual beauty routine while travelling (and I believe this is important for long-term travel) you should not make compromises with the quality of the products you use. Instead of limiting the number of products you use you can downsize their volume.
#6 USE PURSE ORGANIZERS
For the trips when an oversized purse is better than of a backpack, this packing item is very important. The purse organizer helps you put in order all your stuff and more important – it makes it easier to find your things when needed.
#7 CONSIDER YOUR DRESSING STYLE
One of the most important *safety* tips that I can give you is to consider your dressing style when travelling to countries like Morocco. If you dress according to the local customs, not only will not attract undesirable attention but also will show respect to the local traditions and culture.
Read this guide from Mirna Segal from Mindful Gypsy, published in YTravel Blog, about dressing modestly in conservative countries. By considering in advance what types of clothes you will wear at the destination, you will avoid packing items that will remain unused.
#8 PACK CLOTHES FROM ONE COLOR SCHEME
It is important to plan your clothing in one colour scheme. If all your clothes can be used interchangeably, you can mix and match your outfits. Pay attention to the patterns and materials too. For even more versatility, consider how you will layer your clothes depending on weather changes. This the gives you an opportunity to create interesting combos no matter or occasion or temperatures. The classic black, white, gray and beige colours will make you look sleek. But a little bit of colour used in accessories will make you feel elegant. Keep your travel stylish!
#9 PACKING UNDERWEAR
Packing underwear can be quite messy. I myself have a long way to learn how to keep my luggage in order and the underwear is the first thing to create chaos. Check this video to learn how to pack a bra in a suitcase from a packing expert.
#10 USE SMALL BOXES TO PACK DIFFICULT ITEMS
I use the small box I bought in Japan to pack my earphones. Look what type of items you have that disturb the order in your suitcase/purse/backpack and search for suitable boxes to fit them in. Since I invested in my Japanese box I always know where exactly to find my earphones and don’t have a problem with tangled cables.
#11 USE LIGHTWEIGHT CLOTHES AND SHOES
Similar to the principle of easy drying clothes, lightweight clothes and shoes should be your preferred choice for travel. I don’t need to explain to you how heavy winter shoes in your suitcase can bring you additional cost for overweight but please also consider your clothing. It is better to pack a top with polar fleece than a beautiful but voluminous wool sweater.
#12 SHARE TOILETRIES WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY
The main travel hack for every girl’s getaway travel – share your toiletries, girls! In most of the cases, you can use the same drugstore products and pack your own only to treat your special needs like a dermatological problem.
#13 PACK GOOD QUALITY PRODUCTS
All the items that will find a place in your suitcase should be of good quality. Why? Because you don’t want to deal with hole in the socks, unglued shoes soles or broken umbrella during your travel.
You need to be able to trust your essentials. This, however, doesn’t apply to valuable items like jewellery. Don’t take your most valuable jewellery and watches on your trip or you will say Bye-bye to your favourites at some point oo the road. It is what happened to me and my golden cartouche necklace from Egypt.
#14 USE TRAVEL SIZE GEAR
Invest in travel size umbrella, iron or any other item that you use often. This is especially important for ladies that often travel for business and when the trip is for special occasions like wedding or honeymoon. Many of these travel-sized products you will find at duty-free shops at the airports.
#15 USE TRAVEL SIZE BEAUTY PRODUCTS/TOILETRIES
For this female travel packing trick, you should have in mind two things. First is that often the travel size cosmetics are overpriced. You will find on the market large choice of these small volumes. Undoubtedly, these types of products save a lot of space.
However, consider their price and decide which of the products you really need and which you can substitute. In any case, you can always apply rule #5 and distribute the amount of the product you need in small plastic containers or jars.
